Love and Service: Beach Street Bakers Inception

WOW what a time this has been; we have ALL been put through it in multiple was, resiliency has been the defining skill that has held me steady. Despite this being a very economically trying time, the gifts of this time and in our lives from this new micro community have been far too many to count. There is no “getting back” to anything that was, pre COVID. The landscape is fresh and we must paint the world we choose to live in. Each of you have lifted us, guided me, and carved and strengthen a community that was there is name, now is grooved in real authentic connection. I’m proud of us, and grateful for your love.

March 2020 hit us fast and hard; I saw panic and contraction everywhere, Inside my heart I heard a very loud OH HELL NO! Like many others I was sent home from work and had the task of raising my 12 year old son, Asamino, with no income while he was also home learning virtually.

I saw a communities pulling up stakes to save the oneself, isolation, and sadness. I knew at this moment that more than ever we needed each other, deeply without reservation. We would need connection, contact, and understanding to get through these next few days, weeks, or months. It was in that moment I thought perhaps our baking and cooking would be something we could share with others, that would be a welcome gift made with genuine love for community, connection, and nourishing our souls. We could drop off on porches or make available on our porch to pick up without direct contact, see faces and hear stories, laugh together, we could create a legitimate community during the seeming darkness.

It was in these next few days that Beach Street Bakers was born….freshly made, organic, infused with love and creativity, shared with each of you. The word spread through word of mouth and through daily text offerings & pictures. I couldn’t have painted a more exquisite picture….The generosity of this community has been astonishing. We have a viable source of income where there was none, Asamino with his beautiful brown skin is known in his community more than ever as he becomes a young man which keeps him safer from social injustices.

As we grow and foster relationships that bring us together, create deeper service opportunities, added value and joy, we take you with us. Onward we go together!

The joy we feel through Love and Service has been my purpose and code for many years, I have been guided to create and share with my communities. Thank you for your response of love and appreciation. We are deeply grateful for each of you.
